BASKETBALL: UW's Ross decides to enter NBA draft

Washington guard Terrence Ross has decided to enter the NBA draft.

Ross averaged a team-high 16.4 points this season as Washington won the Pac-12 regular-season title and made it to the NIT semifinals. The 6-foot-6 Ross was the only player on the team to reach 30 points, accomplishing the feat twice, and had nine games of 20-plus points.

Ross averaged 25 points in four games in the NIT before a 68-67 overtime loss to Minnesota ended the Huskies' season.

Washington announced Ross' decision on Sunday. The school said on its men's basketball Twitter feed that Ross plans to hire an agent.

SEATTLE ? Terrence Ross overcame an awful first half of shooting to score 26 of his career-high 30 points in the second half, Darnell Gant added 10 of his 13 during Washington?s decisive second-half run, and the Huskies rallied from 10 points down in the second half to beat rival Washington State 75-65 on Sunday night.

Ross was the catalyst behind the Huskies? 26-6 run that erased a 47-37 deficit with 12:16 left and gave Washington (11-6, 4-1 Pac-12) its biggest lead at 63-53 on Ross? fifth 3-pointer of the night with 5:15 remaining.

Ross scored eight points during the run, and then for good measure added a step-back 3-pointer and an alley-oop dunk three-point play to give the Huskies an 11-point lead with 3:09 left.

NEW YORK -- Washington never saw this coming.

The Huskies were the No. 1 overall seed in the 75th annual National Invitation Tournament and seemingly cleared their toughest hurdle last week with a narrow victory over Northwest rival Oregon.

The only obstacles standing between them and redemption were Tuesday's semifinal matchup against Minnesota and a rematch Thursday with Stanford.
